The Portland community is so welcoming and warm. It’s hard not to get caught up in all their enthusiasm – there’s always something new or exciting going on, someplace fun to check out, someone interesting you want to chat with about what they do for a living. We love our city because of its eclectic mix of residents from every walk of life who live together peacefully. That sense of community makes us feel like home here more than anything else does!

Parks galore (the list goes on…) – Gorgeous sunsets over Mount Hood – You can’t beat the coffee – Our streetcars are a ton of fun to ride around on, and they’re not just for tourists!

Bike lanes galore – A whole state full of lush forests to explore anytime you feel like getting away from it all. We take our trails (and weather!) seriously here in Oregon. It’s easy to find your own little spot out there without ever going too far from civilization…

Every day, we lose track of how many times someone mentions (in passing) that they love our city. It’s crazy! And when people ask us why we like living in the Rose City so much… it’s hard to pinpoint just one reason. We’re a bit biased, but here are 12 reasons worth mentioning:

First and foremost, is the food scene. The fresh seafood available right on these shores? Just wowzerz! There are always new restaurants popping up all over town with some delicious specialty or another; you never know what might be around the corner next time you’re hungry for something tasty to eat.

Walking distance to everything means more free time and less stress.

Even in the dead of winter, there’s trees and flowers everywhere you look. And that weather! We can’t forget to mention how surprisingly mild it is here 12 months out of the year. Sure, we get cold days but when it snows for Christmas or New Year’s Eve? You won’t find a more ideal location anywhere else on Earth!

Our city embraces arts like no other; whether it be theatre performances at The Portland Center Stage or some of your favorite bands playing live at one of our hip venues… art makes this place worth living in all 12 months (and 12 hours!)of every day.

The people here are some of the friendliest, most community oriented individuals you’ll find anywhere in America! They not only take pride in their hometown but want others to feel welcome as well. It’s a unique place where everyone feels like they’re part of something special and I don’t think that will ever change… for better or worse.

It really is all sunshine (and rain!) around these parts, too. Sure there are days when we get dark clouds rolling through town, but even those relentless downpours have a silver lining.

People who live in the Northwest tend to have an appreciation for nature and take every opportunity they can get to spend time outside. This is especially true when it comes to Oregonians, because we see such little daylight during our winters that summer feels like a rare blessing… even if it means braving constant rain showers or scorching hot days with high UV index ratings. But you know what? We’ll put up with those things any day as long as we’ve got access to so many outdoor activities – camping at Smith Rock State Park, hiking around Mt Hood National Forest, tubing down the Clackamas River.
